Analysis of overheating failure of Perkins diesel generator set

1. The generator does not operate according to the specified technical conditions, such as the stator voltage is too high, and the iron loss increases; The copper loss of stator windings increases when the load current is too large. The frequency is too low, so that the cooling fan speed is slow, affecting the heat dissipation of the generator; The power factor is too low, so that the rotor excitation current increases, causing the rotor heating. The indicator of monitoring instrument should be checked for normal. If it is abnormal, necessary adjustment and treatment should be carried out to make the generator operate in accordance with the specified technical conditions.

2. The three-phase load current of the generator is unbalanced, and the one-phase winding of overload will overheat; If the three-phase current difference exceeds 10% of the rated current, it belongs to the serious mantis phase current imbalance. The three-phase current imbalance will produce negative sequence magnetic field, thus increasing the loss, causing the magnetic pole winding and collar and other parts to heat up. The three-phase load should be adjusted to balance the current of each phase as far as possible.

3. The air duct is blocked by dust, poor ventilation, resulting in generator heat dissipation difficulties. Dust and grease accumulated in air duct should be removed to make the air duct unimpeded.

4. The inlet air temperature is too high or the inlet water temperature is too high, and the cooler is blocked. The air or water inlet temperature should be lowered to remove the blockage in the cooler. Limit the load of the generator to reduce the temperature of the generator until the fault is rectified.

5. Bearing grease is too much or too little, should be added in accordance with the provisions of grease, usually 1/2 to 1/3 of the bearing room (the upper limit for low speed, the lower limit for high speed), and not more than 70% of the bearing room.

6. Bearing wear. If the wear is not serious, the bearing local overheating; If the wear is serious, it is possible to make the stator and rotor friction, causing the stator and rotor avoid overheating. The bearing should be checked for noise. If friction between stator and rotor is found, the bearing should be stopped immediately for maintenance or replacement.

7. Stator core insulation damage, resulting in short circuit between the pieces, resulting in local eddy current loss of the core increased and heating, serious damage to the stator windings. Should stop immediately for maintenance.

8. The stator winding parallel wire fracture, so that the current of other wires increase and heat. Should stop immediately for maintenance.
